Special Olympics Arizona Hires New CEO
Special Olympics Arizona is pleased to announce Tim Martin as the new chief executive officer. He will officially assume the role on September 28.
“To have someone with Tim’s passion lead our mission of providing year-round sports training, athletic competition and support programs for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities is wonderful for our staff and everyone involved with Special Olympics Arizona,” said Trish Bear, chairwoman of Special Olympics Arizona.
Martin is the former executive director of the Glendale/Peoria YMCA & Deer Valley YMCA. While with the YMCA, Martin oversaw the population growth of sports programming grow from 100 participants to more than 20,000 over the course of the past five years and increased annual fundraising 300 percent over the past four years. He has more than 20 years of non-profit, adaptive needs and sports program management experience. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ottawa University with an emphasis on business and human resource management and development.
“This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and it is very rare to find a career that provides the summation of one’s passions. I was truly blessed to be selected,” said Martin.
Martin resides in Glendale with this wife, Donna, and sons, Trace and Bryce.
